JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: MARKETING MANAGER
REPORT TO: VP- MALL MANAGEMENT
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Participate in and execute components of strategic planning, budgeting, and program execution for the Shopping Mall.
- Direct oversight of marketing staff may be required during project design, development, and completion.
- 5-10 years of prior, relevant experience, with a focus in: marketing strategies, relationship strategies, events strategies and programs
- Previous experience in marketing and retail required
- Knowledge of/experience with shopping mall industry preferred
- Proven ability to drive entire marketing programs and experience managing teams in a professional services on national level
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously with demonstrable experience in consistently delivering high quality results
- Superior writing skills, with demonstrated ability to create marketing collateral, press releases, web content, internal communications materials, client success stories, and thought leadership outputs.
- Excellent oral communications skills and professional client service manner
- Superior Microsoft Office skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with integrating various technologies to support marketing efforts
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team, both on location and in a virtual mode, and ability to interact with/influence all levels of management
- Project management experience
- Manage strategic alliance relationships with key associations, influencers, media, think tanks, academics, etc.
- Work with integrated TMT marketing team to organize and execute regional client meetings and events (panel/roundtables/industry conference receptions, etc.) to strengthen relationships and drive revenue with strategic clients and targets
- Determine and engage other Firm support as needed to drive initiatives (i.e., KM, PR, Internal Communications, etc.)
- Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications or related field; Post graduate degree in branding or marketing a plus
Key responsibilities:
Brand development
- Brand Management, grow the profitability of the Metro Junction Mall- Kaylan, and increase market share.
- Develop and manage the total IMC (Integrated Communications) plan, and take full responsibility of the 360 degree marketing of the brand.
- Develop marketing strategies identifying attractive target markets, products and service opportunities and positioning tactics.
- Monthly presentations to tenants and VP- Mall Management
- Determine the preferred media and tools to use.
- Conceptualise the creative campaign, liaise with and brief the advertising agency as well as the appropriate media to ultimately ensure accurate, true and effective communication with the various markets.
- Act as the branding custodian of the shopping Mall.
Project Management
- Develop project mandates (research, marketing and business strategy).
- Create and execute project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and/scope
- Review deliverables prepared by team before communicating to VP-Mall Management.
- Facilitate team and supplier meetings to ensure deadlines of project are met.
Promotions and Events:
- Coach and Mentor on-site teams.
- Sustain the brand awareness levels of the mall through ongoing annual, seasonal, weekly and joint events and promotions.
- Conceptualise events/promotions, communicate the event to Mall Management as well as to all tenants, execute/implement the event, attend all events (after hours and over weekends as well), liaise with the relevant suppliers and control the set budget.
- Clearly understand the objectives of the events as well as the demographics of the target market and the changes within the target market.
- Primary Focus group Research (Design sample for primary data collection, moderator guide compilation, actual facilitation of focus group, analysing the data, interpreting the findings and reporting the results).
- Secondary Research (Market, Industry and competitor analysis).
Public Relations:
- Tenant Communication
- Manage the on-site Marketing Manager and request monthly report feedback on regular tenant visits
- Welcome new tenants as well as distribute the House Rules of the mall.
- Host monthly tenant feedback sessions.
- Distribute ad-hoc marketing and or management newsletters to tenants.
- Customer Relationship management
- Manage the on-site Marketing Manager to timeoulsy attend to all customer queries and complaints.
- Assist the onsite Marketing Manager to build positive relations with role players in the community including schools, religious institutions and businesses.
- Media Relations
- Build a positive relationship with all media role players.
- Meet regularly with media representatives.
- Distribute regular media releases (generic or promotion specific).
- Facilitate and negotiate joint ventures with the media.
- Social Responsibility
- Hosting fundraising events and manage charity drives.
Budget control:
- Manage annual marketing budget (and procedure) and control the individual budget per promotion, advertising campaign etc.
- Report on the marketing finances on a monthly basis to VP-Mall management.
Professional qualities
- Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.
- Manage the development of team by ensuring, when possible, that project tasks are in line with each member’s interests/strong points.
- Manages the process of innovative change effectively.
- Encourage junior team members to take responsibility for their development within the company
- Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
